Like a spirited river flowing and exploring its chosen course, Autumn continues her creative run without looking back as she releases her third and most anticipated studio album, “Low & Sweet.” The elegant sounds of her second collection, “Velvet Sky” serve as the perfect launching point for an uplifting new direction and breakthrough resonance her fans are sure to crave. Through the seasons, Autumn has evolved on so many levels in her music, and this project emerges as an incredibly fresh sound, like an estuary blending familiar past with innovative future.
As Autumn sifts through a myriad of pop, soft country and folk, like the river she pauses and playfully swirls in pools of a Motown flair, creating a vibrant homespun effect that is beauty mixed with a bit of mischief. It’s just Autumn! All but one song on “Low & Sweet” were written by the artist herself.
Fans will delight in the inclusion of a highly emotive classical piano piece written by Latin American composer Alberto Ginastera. Although classical piano was her chosen field of study at the prestigious music program at the University of Texas in Austin, until now Autumn never showcased her classical gift with audiences. Classical piano is where she finds sanctuary, playing not so much for commerce but for the “pure joy of playing, and nothing else,” she says.
As she describes the creation of “Low & Sweet,” Autumn relates that the original idea of a short EP with a few sample songs emerged as a life unto itself. “The team really delivered,” she said. “Once we started recording, we couldn’t stop!” Spontaneous surges of passion spring from each track and will not be lost on longtime fans that have grown to love the very personal glimpses into real life that Autumn’s songs always provide. Her colorful description of this collection as “handmade, homegrown, boutique music…” is Autumn personified.
Raised in Oklahoma, Autumn took piano lessons as a child and her love for musical expression blossomed as she delved into voice, drums, flute, and guitar. Autumn has toured nationwide and opened for top artists such as Darius Rucker, Marc Cohn (Walking in Memphis), Leo Kottke, James Blunt, The Frey, OK Go, Lifehouse, Mat Kearney, Avril Lavigne, Joe Ely & The Flatlanders, Pat Green, and Austin phenomenon, Bob Schneider. She is also a radio talent, well known in Austin for her 6-year stint on the JB & Sandy Morning Show, and now shares her voice on-air at Majic 95.5 and Mix 94.7, Austin, on Saturday afternoons.
